Job Description

Develops short and long term capital and maintenance budget estimates and recommendations; analyzes maintenance, personnel, equipment, and material needs for budget estimates and recommends priorities for proposed work; inspects work; drafts working drawings of simple building and landscape alterations; makes field inspections and prepares status reports on construction and maintenance projects; inspects  contracted work for compliance with contract provisions; ensures compliance with safe methods for performing work and safety regulations, and maintenance of an Injury and Illness Prevention Program; through subordinate supervisors manages staff engaged in general building maintenance and light construction; and keeps records (including OSHA and other state and local regulations) and prepares reports; and drafts specifications for contracts.

Executive management has directed you to reduce overtime to no more than 5% immediately.  The custodians file a grievance.  After you reduce overtime, you start to receive complaints from internal customers about uncollected trash and the “unsanitary” conditions restrooms.  What steps will you take to respond to the grievance and address the complaints?

  • While driving back to your office from a meeting, you notice one of your crew whose regular shift ended an hour earlier driving a Department truck at a location outside of his assigned area. How will you handle this?
